All cigars and all bourbons are not created equal. In my latest pairing for PuroMaduro.com I took the liberty of pairing a full bodied and full flavored cigar (Padron) with a 114 proof bourbon (Noah's Mill). The cigar and spirit were made for each other in that they both have mastered the art of taming fullness without sacrificing smoothness. Overpowering the palate is the first step toward ruining a pairing but the Padron 1926 80 Years Maduro Perfecto and Noah's Mill manage to go to the edge without falling over.
This is a pairing that you must try. The cigar offers dark chocolate, leather, and hickory wood notes and the bourbon offers vanilla, toffee, and molasses with a long finish. Together they are greater than the sum of their parts.
